This world was made to be beautiful: full of life, diverse, vibrant; connected. But things break. Fear dampens the courage in our souls and the light in our eyes. We have all seen the face of death in some shape or form. We have all felt the suffocating tension of violence and hate, the invisible divide that turns families into enemies. We have tried to connect the pieces – but have felt the tension of fragments not quite fitting together. We’re all looking for a solution, a way to put things back together, looking for restoration… Easter is about things being put together – relationships restored, humanity whole – have you heard the good news?
We celebrate Easter because Jesus identified with our pain. His love went the distance for our fragmented world; this selfless love literally caused Him to give up his own life to restore ours. His surrender was the beginning of a new order, reversing how the world works. His surrender ends defeats violence. His forgiveness crushes cycles of guilt, shame and blame. Easter is Hope. Easter is new beginnings for everyone!
